If your soil is deficient in phosphorus or calcium, Rock Phosphate is one of the most effective long-term fixes available in organic gardening. Down To Earth's Rock Phosphate is a premium powder-grade colloidal phosphate — also called soft rock phosphate — derived directly from natural mineral deposits with no synthetic processing.
Unlike fast-release phosphorus sources, rock phosphate works slowly and steadily. Once incorporated into the soil it continues releasing phosphorus across a wide pH range for months, building long-term soil fertility rather than producing a short spike and fading out. That slow release is exactly what perennial plantings, fruit trees, and established shrubs need — steady fuel rather than a one-time hit.
The phosphorus drives what you actually see above ground: strong root development, vigorous growth, bigger blooms, and improved fruit and seed production. The calcium component is equally important but less talked about. Calcium strengthens cell walls, reduces soil salinity, improves water uptake, and helps correct the chemical balance in depleted or sandy soils like those common throughout South Florida.
Mix into soil before planting or blend directly into compost or manure for compounded soil-building benefits. Can also be used as a side dressing for established plants in fall or early spring.
